Jacob "Jake" Klassen

We, Jake's family sadly announce his passing on March 1st, 2020 at the age of 87 years. Earth's loss became Heaven's gain when he arrived Home.
Jake will be lovingly remembered by his wife Rose, to whom he was married for 62 years; four sons, Jim (Lois), Phil (Debbie), Tim and Tony (Adrianna); six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Katherine, Gertie and Lillian (Lorne); one brother, Peter (Lottie); and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Elizabeth; and four sisters, Agnes, Mary, Betty and Annie.
Jake was born on February 22nd, 1933 in Steinbach, Manitoba. Being an adventurous man and feeling God's "call", he moved his young family to Burns Lake in 1964. Various other moves would occur when they moved to Prince George in 1971, to Ashcroft in 1975, to Armstrong in 1978 and finally to Vernon in 1984. Once here Jake purchased Okanagan Church Supplies which he and Rose operated until his retirement eleven years later.
During his life Jake experienced many adventures, but more important were the people whom he developed lasting friendships with. He was always involved in his church and for a time, at the Upper Room Mission. In Jake's retirement years he loved going for coffee with his "coffee buddies" and anyone who would join him, to listen to his stories.
We would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the Vernon Jubilee and Kelowna General Cardiac SICU for their wonderful care of Jake while a patient there.
Cremation preceded a Celebration of Jake's Life which will be held at Grace Bible Church on Saturday, March 14th, 2020 at 2:00 pm.
