With sadness and love we announce the passing of James William (Jim) Green of Vernon, B.C. on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006 at the age of 90 years. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Katherine, to whom he was married for 63 years, his daughter, Jill (Lorne), his son, Gary (Florence), his grandsons, Michael and Jonathan, his sisters, Florence and Marion and his brother, Hugh. He was predeceased by his brother, Leslie. Born in Liverpool, England, Jim served in the RAF during W.W.II. He “won his wings” in Medicine Hat, Alberta in 1941 and trained and instructed airmen in the Commonwealth Air Training Program. During this time he met and married his wife Katherine. After W.W.II he and Katherine moved to Vernon where he served in various companies as an Accountant before assuming the position of Secretary-Treasurer of the Vernon School District #22 in 1957. He held this position until his retirement in 1981. Apart from thoroughly enjoying this job with the School District, he also found time over the years to volunteer for such community groups as:
