July 7, 1944 - November 5, 2019
It is with sadness, but also gratitude for the time spent together, that we announce the death of James Winston Norris at the age of 75 on November 5th, 2019 at Vernon Jubilee Hospital. Jim was born in Kurri Kurri, New South Wales, Australia to Cyril and Isabel Norris on July 7th, 1944 and emigrated to Canada with his wife Vivienne in 1969. He is survived by his wife Vivienne, his sons Andy and Mark, and friends and family too numerous to mention in both Canada and Australia. Jim had a long and distinguished career in education, starting as a high school teacher and retiring as the Assistant Superintendent of School District 22. Jim was an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Priest Valley Vicars rugby club, and enjoyed outdoor activities, particularly on the water. He was an avid fly-fisherman, and his family has many fond memories of their sailing trips. He was also a keen road cyclist, who tried to ride 3000 km per year, and could often be seen riding his bicycle along roads and trails both local and around the world. As per Jim's request, there will be no service or funeral. However, those who wish to make a gesture in recognition of his passing are encouraged to make a donation in his name to a charity of their choice. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence at the family's on-line obituary @ www.MyAlternatives.ca.
