On the morning of July 5th, 2017 John was called Home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He passed away peacefully with his wife and daughters by his side. John was born on June 13th, 1929 in Nieuw Vennep, Netherlands and passed away just after his 88th birthday. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife; Corrie, to whom he was married for 64 years, his children; Jack (Rose) Van Steensel, Trudy (Kurt) Hagedorn, Perry (Sue) Van Steensel, Debbie (Dave) Koopmans, Becky Marchand and Diane Marchand, his grandchildren; Cheri (Mark), Sabrina, David (Kathryn), Stephanie, Jordan (Jessica), Kelsy, Meagan and Khalen (Shalea), his great-grandchildren; Terry, Scott, Lealund, Ara, Jaxton and Kestrel, his brother; Jaap (Hilda) Van Steensel, his sister; Jenny Schmale along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents; Jan and Pleontje, his brother; Piet and his sister; Nel.
John and his family have lived in Vernon, B.C. since 1968. Prior to his retirement, John spent years on the road, selling for Rema Tip Top and later as an owner operator of Mid Valley Distributors.
Our entire family would like to thank Creekside Care Facility and staff who watched over John during the last 4 years.
A private family Graveside Service will precede a Celebration of John’s Life which will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church on Thursday, July 13th, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Grace Wulff officiating. A Reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
