In Loving Memory ~
Jim Read, beloved husband of Elly, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2022. He was 90 years young.
Jim was born in Spruce Lake, Saskatchewan on April 20th, 1932.
The family moved to the Lower Mainland in the early 40's. In 1952 he was hired by the PGE Railway (now BC Rail). He was proud to say he worked every single mile of track on the BC Rail during his career.
In 1949 he met Elly at a dance in North Delta. They married in 1951 and started a family right away. He is loved deeply by all his children. The girls - Barbara Hornsey (Larry) Kelowna. Debra Ducharme (Bert) Salmon Arm. Shelley Haslett (Al) Vernon. The boys - Mark Read (Lori) Prince George. Grant Read (Charlene) Prince George.
He left wonderful memories for his 12 grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.
Jim and Elly celebrate their 71st wedding anniversary on May 4, 2022.
The family moved to Prince George in 1955. The summers were spent camping and boating. Jim was a good carpenter and built 4 of the homes they lived in over the years. He was never idle. He was a member of the Masonic Temple and a Shriner.
Jim and Elly spent many warm winters in Yuma, Arizona.
