It is time for us to say goodbye to our dear sweet Mom. She was born to George and Gwen Ogilvie and raised in Vernon, BC on Silver Star Mountain. Mom married her childhood sweetheart John (Jack) W. Fox and together they bought land and raised their children (4 Boys and 1 girl) on Keddleston Road. They farmed their land and Mom also worked at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital for many years. Her favourite job there was Special Diets.
She is predeceased by her husband John (Jack) Fox, parents George and Gwen Ogilvie, her brothers Bill and Bruce Ogilvie, her brother-in-law Vernon Fox, Roy Herrling & Stan Holmes, her sister in law Joan Ogilvie, Mary Holmes & Pam Ogilvie and her first granddaughter Donna Fox.
Mom is survived by her 5 children Ted, Don, Tom, Jude Lanaway and John and their spouses (Jim Lanaway, Louise, Claire & Marg). She is also survived by her sister Dawn Herrling and sister-in-law Liz Fox. Joan is also survived by her precious grandchildren Tyler, Nadine, Jeanie, Jennifer, Bernie, Ben, Ted Jr., Brent, Renea', Cynthia, Frankie, Cade, Kim, Sierra, Stetson, Joe, Rebecca, Brian, Shaun, Darren, Jessica, & Sarah & many great grandchildren & great great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mom's love for children, animals, gardening, and baking is what we will always cherish. Mom was a hard worker who was very intelligent, kind and compassionate. She wrote in a journal every day of her life and will always be remembered for her sweet kindness.
Mom's last 31 months were very special, thanks to the care and kindness that she received from her extended family at Polson North. The staff gave Mom quality of life while being treated like a beloved immediate family member.
We will miss you Mom.
A Funeral Service will be held at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home at 12:00 pm on Saturday March 7, 2020. Reception to follow.
Mom loved flowers, so please feel free to bring flowers for her. They will be later donated to Polson Extended Care Facility in Vernon. Mom always gave flowers to brighten someone's day and show that she cared.
