July 28, 1945 - June 11, 2021
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Dad.
Dad was born in Portage la Prairie MB. He and his girlfriend (Sandy) headed west to BC in 1965 where he worked at the Winfield Packing Plant.
They later moved to Vernon, married and had two sons (John and Richard). Dad worked as the Dairy Manager for the local SuperValu grocery store for 25 years.
In 1992 he met his wife (Julie) and her daughter (Crystal) and later welcomed their daughter (Felicia) to the family. They owned a local cafe (Grabbit and Run) and operated that together for a number of years.
Later, Dad opened his own business as a handyman and did that until he finally and officially retired. He was incredibly skilled in all trades. He had taken some electrician courses at the Manitoba Institute for Technology before he moved west, it was a passion of his.
Dad played softball and loved to bowl and golf. He coached youth soccer for years and was the proudest fan in the stands watching his sons bowl and play soccer and his daughter play volleyball.
He was a Vernon Vipers hockey fan, rarely missing a game. He enjoyed fishing, playing cribbage, reading western books, watching movies and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his sister, Ellamae brothers; Ken (Margaret) Don (Jean) sons; John (Becky) Richard (Charity) daughters; Crystal (Kyle) Felicia (Cody), nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews - all whom he adored.
In honoring Dads wishes there will be no public service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any Youth Sporting Association.
Rest in peace Dad xo
