January 9, 1947 - April 29, 2016
John Thomas O’Grady went to be with the Lord on the evening of April 29, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was in Hospice House at the time of his passing with his loving wife, Mary and best friend, Dana Brown, by his side.
Besides his loving wife, Mary, he is survived by sons Patrick of Chilliwack and Michael of Langley, four grandchildren: Elysha, Mathieu, Liam and Sean and three siblings: Lawrence and Joyce of Ottawa and Pat of Smith Falls. He was predeceased by his parents Lillian and J. Thomas and a sister, Shirley.
Tom loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and golf. He also loved his yard and was very proud of the home that Mary and him built in Vernon. Tom was a perfectionist in all that he did. He would come home from a two week hunting trip and within a week was making plans for the next year!
We would like to thank all our friends and family for their visits with Tom and all their prayers and support. It meant a lot to both Tom and Mary. Special Thank You to Pastor Don Reeve. The family would like to extend their gratitude and appeciation to the staff at the North Okanagan Hospice House in Vernon, Dr. Vincent and the Doctors and staff of the Vernon Cancer Center.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 14 at Emmanuel Fellowship
Baptist Church, 3412 - 15th Avenue, Vernon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the North Okanagan Hospice Society, 3506 - 27th Avenue, Vernon, BC V1T 1S4.
