Josephine Nowell ‘Josie Lofting’ Fehr

Josephine Nowell 'Josie Lofting' Fehr

December 25, 1954 – October 23, 2020
Josie was a wonderful, hard-working, funny person. After several years of marked decline, Josie passed away as a result of complications brought on by the devastating effects of early-onset dementia. She would have been 66 this Christmas.
Josie was born in Burns Lake, grew up in Terrace, and lived most of her adult life in Vernon. Over the years, she thoroughly enjoyed walking, running, hiking, biking, skiing, paddling, playing baseball, picking berries, and spending winters with Ruben and their beloved dogs in the little Mexican paradise they built together in Punta Perula.
Josie worked in the admitting department at Vernon Jubilee Hospital for 32 years. When budget cuts eliminated the job she so loved, rather than accepting a lesser position, Josie opted for early retirement.
She was highly regarded by medical and support staff alike, and counted her numerous colleagues as good friends. Of significant mention was her special bond with Dana, Yvonne, and Chris.
Josie leaves behind her daughters, Erin (Vancouver) and Ellen (Edmonton); her sister, Rosie (Vernon); her brothers, Kurtis (Vernon) and Roger (Terrace); her partner, Ruben (Salmon Arm); several aunts and uncles; and a truly astounding number of cousins.
No formal service is planned. The immediate family will hold a private graveside ceremony next summer when Josie’s ashes will be lovingly interred in the family plot surrounded by the majestic mountains of beautiful Terrace, BC.Obituary
