OGASAWARA
Katsu Ogasawara passed away peacefully on Friday October 18, 2002 at the Bethany House in Vernon. She was born in Japan on June 24, 1903 and was 99 years of age. She was predeceased by her husband Jimmy in 1969, her daughter Nagako in 1937 and her son Hiroshi (Hip) in 2000. Katsu is survived by her son Tosh (Bev) of Vernon, two grandchildren, Sherrie of Prince George and Ricky (Dionne) of Vernon, four great grandchildren, Hanna, Nina, Ty and Toshi, one sister Helen Fujino of Armstrong and several nieces, nephews and extended family. Katsu came to Canada in 1919. She lived in Vancouver for a short time before moving to Vernon in the early 1920’s. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke foundation 202-3402 27th Avenue, Vernon, V1T 1S1. A memorial service will be held on Thursday October 24, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home with Sensei Mike Hayashi officiating. Burial of ashes will follow the Chapel Service. A reception will be held in the Pleasant Valley Team Room. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, 542-4333.
