KAY BOSWELL

KAY BOSWELL was born Katherina Josephine Pidhurney in Grunthal, Manitoba on November 20, 1907, to John Pidhurney and Polly Zaporzan Pidhurney. She was raised in a farming community in Manitoba until age 10 when the family moved to Seymour Arm and Salmon Arm. Kay worked in homecare, waitressing, and in the plentiful fruit orchards. She married Richard Boswell Jr. in 1931, in Armstrong, and they resided in Salmon Arm, later moving to Vernon. Dick preceded her in death in 1979. Kay gave birth to two daughters: Alice May Shaw of Vernon and Loretta Joyce Menconi of Bothell, Washington. She is survived also by six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandaughter, as well as sister Mary Crowther in Victoria. Kay passed away at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on October 20. Private family graveside funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 23, at Mt. Ida Cemetery in Salmon Arm.
