We regretfully announce the passing of Leslie Norman Davis in Vernon on April 10, 2022 at the age of 91 years.
Leslie was born in London, England, March 21st, 1931. Following regular schooling he joined the Royal Air Force apprenticeship program in 1947 training as a wireless mechanic. In 1952 he was commissioned and selected for navigation training, which he undertook under the NATO training program in Winnipeg, MB, Canada.
It was in Winnipeg that he met his future wife, Diana, whom he married in 1954. Returning to England, and following further training, he joined No. 617 squadron (the Dam Busters) stationed in Germany where he flew Canberra bombers (as navigator) until he retired from R.A.F. in 1955 to emigrate to Canada.
Leslie and Diana settled in Winnipeg where he worked in the airline industry and with Air Canada in the Viscount maintenance unit. They left Winnipeg for British Columbia in 1962 where he worked for a crude oil pipeline company, being responsible for all electronic control systems, computers and communications.
They lived first in Fort St. John and later in Prince George until he retired in 1989 when they moved to Vernon and many years of happy retirement and travel.
During his retirement yeas Leslie was a very active volunteer with several organizations: the Okanagan Mainline Ostomy Association of BC; the North Okanagan Community Concert Association; the Sovereign Lake Nordic Ski Club, and after his wife's death the Hospice House "Chapter Two" program.
Leslie was predeceased by his mother Ethel (1936), his father William (1971) and his beloved wife Diana (2005). He is survived by an only brother Arthur, in Wisbech, England, two nieces and a nephew in England and Germany.
Also by a sister in law Stella (now deceased), two nieces and a nephew all in Vancouver, BC.
At Leslie's request there will be no memorial service. He will be cremated and his ashes buried beside those of his wife in Coldstream Cemetery.
