Oct 6, 1927 - Jan 20, 2018
It is with great sadness we announce our mother, Lois Pauline Kingdon passed away peacefully in Vernon at the Heritage Square care facility on January 20, 2018.

Lois was the eldest daughter born in 1927 to Lewis and Amy Richards who were long-time residents in the Kenton District of Manitoba.

Left to mourn is her husband Les, and 3 children, Bradley Moreau, Allan (Judy) Moreau, and Vivian Kingdon. Mom is also survived by her sister Vivian Hildebrand in Neepawa MB, Kaye (Gladys) Richards in Armstrong, and Barry (Sharon) Richards in Regina SK. Mom leaves 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Mom graduated from nursing in Selkirk Manitoba. Her career in nursing was spent in many hospitals and nursing facilities in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. In 1988 Mom and Les were living in Regina Sk. Before Les retired they had made plans to spend their retirement years in the Armstrong area. They built a wonderful home on Sleepy Hollow Road where mom realized a lifelong dream of raising Tennessee Walker horses. Mom had not retired yet and continued to work at the Enderby Memorial Hospital and the Pleasant Valley Manor.

After her retirement, mom continued to work as a health care professional making many home care visits throughout the Armstrong area and was actively involved in her community as a tireless volunteer with the Haugen Centre, Red Cross, Canadian Cancer Society, and the Armstrong Medical Equipment Loan Cupboard.

Mom was also a sports enthusiast. Her passion was the game of curling and she spent many long winter hours playing in women's, mixed and senior leagues throughout her life. She was also an avid fan and supporter of her children's and grandchildren's sporting activities. She was always willing to donate and volunteer her time with any sports event she was involved in.

There will be a Celebration of Life on June 9, at 1:00 p.m. at Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services in Armstrong BC.
