We rejoice knowing that Louise "Esther" Schmidt went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 8th, 2020 at the age of 89, after suffering a stroke 3 months ago.
She was predeceased by her husband Ben in 1996 and her daughter Nancy in 2016.
Esther will be sadly missed by her children; Mervin (Sharron), Mark (Cheryl), Marlene Davies (John), Darlene Brodoway (Daryl) all of Vernon and Randy of Lloydminster. 8 Grandchildren Brett (Michele), Bryan (Devon), Jake (Heather), Lee, Benjamin, Jim, Rachel and Naomi, 3 great-grandchildren Lexie, Brooks and Dailey, her sister Tina McMillan and brother Ray Wiens both of Langley, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Esther was born in Waldheim, Saskatchewan on February 15, 1931. Her family moved to BC in 1946.
She married Ben in 1957. They bought a farm in Langley and moved to Armstrong in 1970, where she lived on Otter Lake Rd until 2015 at which time she relocated to Vernon to be closer to her children.
All who knew her said she was always happy and had a smile on her face. Esther always had an open door for anyone who needed a place to stay.
She enjoyed playing games with her friends and family, doing puzzles and reading. Esther was a very hard worker.
You would find her in the garden, mowing the lawn, feeding the chickens and the cows, fixing the fence, burning grass, chopping wood, pruning the fruit trees, shovelling the driveway, butchering chickens and even on the roof cleaning the chimney.
She had a strong belief in God, which was a testimony on how she lived her life. She attended the First Baptist Church in Armstrong for many years before moving to Vernon.
We wish to thank the Dr's and nurses and all the home care workers for taking care of mom's needs over the last several months.
A private ceremony was held by the family.
