1931 - 2016
Malvina (Mel) Pylypiuk passed away peacefully on December 7th, 2016 at Hospice House in Vernon with her loving husband at her side.
She leaves to mourn her husband of 57 years, Walter Pylypiuk; 2 sisters, Mary Michalchuk of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and Gloria Donahue of Edmonton, Alberta; brother-in-law, Lloyd (Pat) Pylypiuk; sisters-in-law, Marian (Walter) Marchuk, and Esther Dobroskay; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Stella Michalchuk; two brothers, Frank and John Michalchuk; and four sisters: Eva Georget, Olga Joubert, Pauline Hansen, and Vivian Sanjenko.
Mel was born and raised on the family farm in Bellevue, Saskatchewan, where she attended a two room rural school. She later moved to Calgary where she met the love of her life, husband Walter. One year later they moved to the coast and it was there that she started her long career in retail, working for Hudson Bay and then Woodwards. In 1991, they retired and moved to Vernon B.C. where they resided for the next 25 years.
Mel was an immaculate housekeeper and needed everything in its rightful place. She loved watching her Blue Jays, playing cards and socializing. She made many friends along the way.
She will be forever missed by her husband Walter, all her family, and everyone whose lives she touched. Mel was a very special aunt to all her nieces and nephews. We were very fortunate to have had her in our lives.
At her request there will not be a service.
