With great sadness we announce the passing of Margaret Eley on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, in Vernon, with her family at her side.
Margaret will be dearly missed and is survived by her husband and love of 52 years, Andrew Eley, their 2 sons, Gareth of Victoria, BC, and Logan (Tenille) of Vernon, BC, and her four grandchildren, Kallum & Korben, Jaxton & Brynn, as well as many extended family and friends. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, brothers, and sisters.
Margaret was born in East Kilbride, Scotland in 1939 to George and Agnes Currie. In 1967 she moved to Ontario, Canada where she met her husband Andrew, also from Scotland. They married in 1969, had their first son Gareth in 1975, then moved west to Vernon, BC, and welcomed their second son, Logan in 1976.
Margaret worked for many years at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital before retiring in 1997. In her retirement she loved to spend time with her grandkids and had a habit of supplying them with too much candy.
She was an avid volunteer as well at both the Vernon Rest Home and the People Place, among others throughout the years. She also enjoyed spending time with her close friends, Judy, Angie, Susan, Marion, Janet, Ilene, & Voula (aka: The International Coffee Gang) who will all miss her dearly.
It was Margaret's wish that no funeral or memorial be held. She chose to be cremated and her ashes will be kept with her husband Andrew and family, to be scattered at a later date.
