January 1, 1928 - October 6, 2020
It is with the heaviest of hearts we share that Peg Mick, loving and generous mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great aunt, great-great aunt and friend, passed away at her home on October 6th, 2020 at the age of 92 and 3/4 years, with her girls by her side.
Peg is survived by her son, Patrick (aka "manny boy") (Coreen); and her daughters, Colleen and Maureen; four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louise and Stanley Murray; two sisters, Grace and Arlene; three brothers, George, Douglas and Leslie; and her baby granddaughter, Melissa Mick in 1982.
Mom was born on January 1st, 1928 in Neepawa, Manitoba. She was proud that the first baby of the year prize was a much needed ton of coal! Her mother made the momentous decision to move her children out of the "god forsaken prairies", eventually settling in Vernon in 1940. After having her children, Mom found part time employment at the Hudson's Bay when it was still located in downtown Vernon and then later at McRichard's Furniture.
Mom loved her family with all her heart. She was a great friend to many and enjoyed visiting over a cup of tea. Mom also loved babies, playing killer games of Scrabble, birds, butterflies, roosters and she became known as the "Grandma who makes tea" and granddaughters and grandsons alike all came to appreciate a tea party at Grandma's.
In respecting Peg's wishes, she was cremated and no service will be held at this time in light of COVID-19 but a celebration of her life will be held when it is safe to do so. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Peg to the BC Children's Hospital, 4500 Oak Street, Vancouver, B.C. V6H 3N1 or a charity of your choice.
We, Peg's family extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. L. Pritchett for your special attention to "Peggy", BC Ambulance Service and particularly to Darrell of the Vernon RCMP.
Cremation arrangements were made with
