May 10, 1951 - March 15, 2021
Marilyn was born on May 10th, 1951 in Edmonton, Alberta and passed away peacefully on March 15th, 2021 in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital at the age of 69 years, following a stroke.
Marilyn is survived by her sons, Jason (Shelley) Henderson and Rob (Amy) Henderson; three grandchildren, Katie, Carly and Liam; her step-daughter, Lee Kirk; two sisters, Carol Topp and Cathy Armour; and one brother, Dave (Glenna) Rand.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Bob Rand; one sister and brother-in-law, Bunny and Don Barrett; her younger brother, Richard Rand; and her stepson, Jay Holweg.
Marilyn was an accomplished highland dancer and figure skater. Upon graduation from high school she was employed as a secretary and volunteered at Walterdale Playhouse. Marilyn moved to Creston when she was 21 years old and found employment in a law office.
In 1980 she moved to Vernon, which resulted in a successful 38 year career working for several law firms, ending with a long association with Nixon Wenger LLP. Her creative abilities blossomed when she retired in 2018. Her door was always open to friends and family alike.
In respecting Marilyn's wishes, she was cremated and due to the current pandemic and enforced restrictions, a private ceremony will be held at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery when she is laid to rest. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Marilyn to the charity of their choice.
The family would like to thank the staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital for providing such excellent care for Marilyn.
