It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maga Telford who went to be with her Lord on Thursday, January 28th, 2016 at the age of 83 years.

Maga was born on July 12th 1932 and was raised, educated and married in Edmonton AB. Throughout her husband Bert’s career, she resided in Legal, AB, Drayton Valley, AB, Dawson Creek, BC, Grande Prairie AB and finally retired with Bert on the lake in the Okanagan Valley. Newport Beach in Vernon BC, is where she lived out the remainder of her life spending countless hours taking care of her hummingbirds with the same compassion she had for her family and friends.

Maga was a wife, mother and friend who unselfishly gave of herself in all that she did. She always gave more than she received. She loved to volunteer whether it was being a Brownie leader, or doing hair care for the hospital auxiliary. She performed countless hours of canvassing throughout her lifetime especially for the Canadian Diabetes Association. Maga also took great pride in caring for her beloved rose garden and her grace will live on as her roses bloom for years to come.

Maga is survived by her loving husband Albert J. (Bert) of 60 years and their 3 children, Brian Joseph, (Chris), Claire Marie and Patricia Ann (Bruce) and 5 grandchildren: Adam, Kaitlyn, Tyler, Abbey and Sarah and many nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her parent’s Joseph and Elizabeth Mireault, brother Joseph (WWII), brother Gus, sister Claire, and brother Tom.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Lindsey Hayward for her considerate care during Mom’s illness. Also, the staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, the professional, competent and compassionate care of the staff of the palliative care Team #1 of Interior Health and most importantly the nurses and staff at North Okanagan Hospice House for their unconditional support and love in making Mom’s final days as comfortable as possible. Also, many thanks to the church parishioners of Saint Benedict’s and Saint Theresa’s. And last but certainly

not least, the friends and neighbors of Newport Beach for their love, and generous support throughout Mom’s illness.

Vigil Prayer service will be held on Wednesday, February 3rd at 7PM. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 4th at 10:30AM. Both will be held at St James Parish – 2607 – 27th Street, Vernon BC.
