January 22, 1954 – April 10, 2016
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mike Nakucyj on April 10, 2016 at Kelowna General Hospital. Mike was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. Mike was born in Vernon, BC to Russell and Polly Nakucyj and was the oldest of three children. He met the love of his life, Marilyn Specht in 1969. They married in 1972. Together they had four children and were blessed with 7 grandsons. Mike loved the outdoors from the time he was a child. He also loved to drive, the bigger the better, which is why he chose the profession of truck driver/machinery operator, and then that of taxi driver. He was known as “Car 2”. Mike loved most of all to BBQ, cook and spend time with his family. Mike was predeceased by his father Russell in 1997. Mike will be lovingly remembered by his mother Polly; life partner, Marilyn; children, Trevor (Shelley), Theressa (Garnet), Brad (Lindsey), and Christina (Tim); grandsons, Nick, Matthew, Andrew, Tyson, Michael, Ben and Jaxon; and siblings, Bill (Rose) and Kathy (Dave).
A Celebration of Life will be held for Mike on Saturday, April 23 at 2:00 pm at 7990 Wilson Jackson Road, Vernon, BC (Brad and Lindsey’s house).
