In loving memory ~
Olga Gilowski was born in Norquay, Saskatchewan to parents Michael and Tilly Zbytnuik. Ollie was the youngest of 3, predeceased by her two older brothers Tony and Joe. Ollie grew up in Kamsack, Saskatchewan where her family operated a furniture store. Upon graduating from high school, Ollie tried her hand at being a school teacher however soon ended up as an educator/trainer for the Saskatchewan Telephone Company. This position allowed Ollie to travel and see much of Canada and the US while training new phone operators on the systems. It was while in Whitehorse Yukon, that she met Peter Gilowski and they married on June 5, 1956. They resided in many places throughout the Yukon from 1956 to 1966. While in the Yukon, they had two sons; Brian and Donald. In 1966 they moved from the Yukon to the sunny Okanagan and settled in the City of Enderby. While raising her family, Ollie owned and operated a family grocery store and a Vernon jewelry store. Ollie lived in Enderby until health issues required a move to Vernon. Ollie served her community in many ways but loved to give her time to anyone who required it, mainly the Catholic Women's Auxiliary, Enderby Queens Committee, and the Enderby Lions Club. Peter and Ollie enjoyed being with family very much and always put family first. Always celebrating life events and hosting numerous family dinners. Baba was fun, kind and generous. She looked for the best in every situation and all those that knew her immediately loved her as we did. Baba enjoyed travelling, reading, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends.
Ollie leaves behind her loving husband Peter of 65 years, Children Brian (Sue) and Don (Kelly). Grandchildren Jamie (Aleesa), Megan (Matt), Tyler (Lauren), Ryan (Madison), Daniel, Cliff (Shannon) and Chris (Kate). Great Grandchildren Deagan, Rylie, Greyden, Mabelle, Emmett, Ayla, Izzy, Finn, Piper, Van and Zoe. Ollie also leaves behind numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, and close friends.
A service will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Enderby at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023. Lunch and a Celebration of Life will follow the funeral service.
