It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Henry Campbell in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital with his family by his side on April 1st, 2018, at the age of 82 years.
Bob was born on May 24th, 1935 in Kelowna, B.C. He grew up and attended school in neighbouring Rutland. He excelled in any sport he played. He was a natural athlete. He won numerous B.C. Championships in singles and mixed doubles badminton, held numerous records in track and field, was an outstanding hockey player and was scouted and asked to play major league baseball in the States but chose instead to remain with his high school sweetheart, Ethel. Bob also enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, roping and spending time with his family.
In 1956 he married Ethel and in 1962 they moved to Vernon, B.C. and purchased the OK Tire Store which they ran together until their retirement. Bob was well known in the community, volunteering at the Vernon Race Days and the Vernon Pee Wee Hockey Tournament to name a few.
Bob was predeceased by his loving wife, Ethel Campbell and by his parents, Mabel and David (Pi) Campbell.
Bob will be lovingly remembered by his children, Cindy (Luke) Gosselin, Cori (Ray) Kingdon, Sheldon (Christina) Campbell, 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, all of Vernon, B.C., his brother, John (Lee) Campbell of Revelstoke, B.C., his sisters, Sharon (Tom) Moore of Kamloops, B.C., Marilyne (George) Bowering of North Vancouver along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
In respecting Bob's wishes, no funeral service will be held. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Bob to the Heart & Stroke Foundation #4 - 1551 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, B.C. V1Y 9M9.
