October 24, 1927 - July 18, 2018
The family of Ruth Breitkreutz announces her Home-going on July 18th, 2018 at 90 years of age. Ruth is survived by six children: Rudy (Rose) of Lavington, Otto of Vernon, Ervin (Irma) of Lavington, Walter (Monica) of Edmonton, Anita (Harald) Kober of Coldstream, Ruben (Lee-Ann) of Vernon, and her daughter-in-law Gudrun of St. Albert.
Ruth leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, her sisters Adeleine Fahl, Agnes Baumann and Selma Kolke along with numerous extended family members and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Gustav and Olga, her husband Albert, her son Art and her siblings, baby brother, Franz, Samuel, Arthur, Ruben and Teofila.
Ruth was born on Oct. 24th, 1927 in Andrejowka, Russia. She trained as a nurse in Germany and worked as a porcelain illustrator. In 1948, she married Albert Breitkreutz, and soon afterward immigrated to Canada, settling in Edmonton. In addition to raising her family, she worked alongside Albert in their construction business. In 1994, Ruth and Albert retired to Vernon. Her life-long faith in God sustained her through many trials.
A viewing will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Friday, July 27th, 2018 from 7:00 - 8:00 PM. A Graveside Service will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, July 28th in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Ruth's Life at the Church of God at 10:30 AM with Pastor Gary Glanz officiating.

The family would like to thank Dr. George Borchert and the staff at Heron Grove and The Hamlets for the support and compassionate care they gave Mom in her final years.
