In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the peaceful passing of our Mother Sharon Mary Christina Shaw (Brown) on February 13, 2022 at Menno Home in Abbotsford, B.C.
Survived by her loving children Rae Chow, David Shaw, Noreen Siegmund (Mike), Wendy Kaliszuk and Eva LeBlanc (Jean), 16 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. Also survived by siblings Noreen Hassard (Pat), Mary-Lou Plowe (Lyle), Bruce Brown and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents Ray and Lucy Brown, brother Armand Brown, husband Chuck Shaw, daughter Denise Brunn, great grandson Brooks Chow and sons in law, Wilkie Chow and Todd Kaliszuk.
Sharon lived in Vernon for 64 years and was active in both St. James Church and the Vernon community. She was an employee of the Royal Bank in Vernon for 25 years and was one of the first female Assistant Account Managers.
Sharon was a Vernon Winter Carnival Chairperson for several years and it is timely that she passed away during Carnival week. She joined many groups and was an active participant in all of them. She was a 42 year member of AA and inspired many fellow members to lead a life of sobriety. She was often requested to share her story of sobriety as an example to others.
In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting, she played many musical instruments including the guitar, piano, accordion and organ. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines singing group. She was also fortunate to have travelled to many countries and would always come home with great stories of her adventures.
Her final years were spent in Abbotsford in the care of Menno Home and she was much loved by the staff. She was an eager participant in any activities offered as well as the church services. She enjoyed outings with her daughters and son for lunch or to the mall and was sure to greet each one with open arms.
She will be dearly missed and her memory cherished. A private family service will be held at a later date.
