Oct 29, 1973 - Apr 21, 2018
It is with profound sadness we announce the untimely passing of our dear son Shaun at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital on April 21st, 2018. Shaun fought a valiant battle against raging colon cancer that was diagnosed just five months ago.

Shaun was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on October 29th, 1973 and after high school attended the University of Saskatchewan, convocating in June 1999 with a degree in  Geological Engineering.  His first job was with SOPAC in Suva, Fiji and when he returned to Canada he worked throughout western Canada. He went back to University in Kelowna in a co-op program, convocating in 2017 with a degree in Civil Engineering. At the time of his illness, Shaun lived in North Vancouver and was employed by Softree.

Shaun travelled internationally each year, as work permitted and often spoke about the trip to Peru with his parents which included a three day hike to Machu Picchu. His last big trip was to India last April. He was an avid hiker, snow boarder, skier, and last summer he would kayak or paddle board every spare moment at his favourite spots, Deep Cove and Horseshoe Bay. He also enjoyed returning to the family home in Coldstream to help with yard and gardening jobs. He volunteered for senior help programs, sports events, Roots and Blues, CIBC Run for the Cure and grass cutting at Hospice House in Vernon.

Shaun leaves behind his beloved parents, Rodger and Faithe of Coldstream, B.C., Uncle John and Aunt Diane Prodanuk of Regina, Saskatchewan, Uncle Tom Prodanuk of Chilliwack, B.C. and numerous cousins and friends throughout Canada.

Special thanks to all the staff Shaun met in the Kelowna and Vernon Cancer Centres, the exceptional staff at the Chemotherapy Centre in Vernon, the nurses and OTs at the Community Health Care Centre, all the doctors, hospitalists and nurses in the Emergency Departments in Vernon and Kelowna and the 6th Floor of the Polson Tower in Vernon. Extra special thanks to Dr. Humphries, Dr. Lemiski and Dr. Jocelyne Moore.
