April 23, 1931 - January 29, 2019
Sophie was born on April 23rd, 1931 in Heidendorf Siebenburgen, Romania and passed away on January 29th, 2019 in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital at the age of 87 years.
Sophie left Romania during the Second World War, living in Germany before emigrating alone to Canada in 1954. She married Klement Polder in 1958 and they were married for 56 years before Klement died in 2014. Sophie was a long time member of the Lutheran Church in Vernon.
Sophie will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Cynthia (Robert); two nieces and three nephews; many friends, and her extended family in Germany and Austria. She was a unique, loving spirit with boundless energy, compassion and inner strength.
Cremation and interment preceded the Memorial Service which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Saturday, April 27th, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor David Hunter officiating. A Reception will follow in the Bethel Tea Room.
