VIOLET KIRSTINE THOMAS

Sept. 15, 1908 - Oct. 13, 2002

at the age of 94, was called home to her lord, at Vernon Jubilee Hospital. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her surviving children, Viola and Ted; her sister Rose; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Violet was predeceased by her husband, Sgt. George Thomas; son Michael; daughter Louise; sister Lily; brothers Clarence, Vick, and Niels; parents Niels and Kirstine; and grandsons Raymond, Brian and Danny. Violet was born at East Coulee, Alberta and moved to the Calgary area in 1914. She was a seamstress at Eatons there for 25 years, and was also well-known as a cellist with the Calgary Symphony Orchestra for over 25 years. Violet married Sgt. George Thomas in 1928 and had four children. She was always thinking and giving of herself to others. Violet moved to Vernon in 2002, to stay with her daughter. In lieu of flowers, donations to SPCA, (to be used for food for the animals) would be appreciated. Funeral Services were held on Thursday, October 17, at 1:00 P.M., in the chapel of Vernon Funeral Home, with interment following in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Arrangements were in the care of Vernon Funeral Home. 542-0155. The family would like to express their many thanks to Dr. Remington and to the staff of 2 West at Vernon Jubilee Hospital
