December 23, 1945 - November 3, 2021
We are saddened to announce the passing of Fred Stratton at Pleasant Valley Manor in Armstrong BC. Fred spent the last few years dealing with the effects of Parkinson's Disease and thankfully passed quickly and quietly in a place he cared for greatly. Fred was predeseased by his parents Jocelyn and Wilfred, his step-father Philip, Brothers Paul and Melvin, and his nephew David. He leaves behind Sisters-in-law Pamela and Carol, Niece Diana, Nephew Sheldon, Cousins, and many good friends.
Though Autistic, Fred enjoyed a fulfilling life and excelled at handicrafts such as origami, knitting, drawing, and painting to name only a few. He enjoyed playing the Organ and loved music. Fred was born in Manitoba but moved as a young child to Haney, BC. Fred lived in several areas of BC including Monte Lake, Vernon, Lillooet, and eventually Armstrong in 2019. He touched many lives wherever he went and was known to be a shy but sweet and caring person. While living in Vernon, Fred participated in the Kindale Developmental Association's programs and activities and has many friends who remember him from this time.
A celebration of life featuring a hotdog roast and cherry pie for dessert will be held in the coming Spring as per his wishes. His family wish to thank the staff of Pleasant Valley Manor for their kindness and care in looking after Fred during his stay, especially during these difficult times of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Donations to Kindale, or to Pleasant Valley Manor in Fred's memory would be greatly appreciated.
