In loving memory ~
William (aka. Willie) Tataryn was born in Ketchen [near Preeceville) Saskatchewan on September 8, 1927 to Mike and Frances (Maksymiw) Tataryn. He was the eldest son in a family of 17 children—two of which died in infancy. When he was 17, Willie and his sister came to Vernon by train to join their father who was doing orchard work in the area. Later the entire family came to B.C and settled in the Rutland area of Kelowna.
Willie loved his family. He loved participating in or watching any sport. He loved his God and enjoyed reading his Bible and singing sacred songs--particularly when he and his wife were on the road. After a full life encompassing orchard work, logging, staking claims, operating a lathe at a plywood plant, carpentry, maintenance man for a large nursing home, and lastly, operating a re-saw, Willie retired in the Lumby area in 1999.
Due to recent deteriorating health, he was hospitalized many times and fell asleep trusting in Jesus on July 10, 2022 while at the North Okanagan Hospice Society. Willie was pre-deceased by his parents and by ve of his siblings. He is survived by his wife, Lynda (Andrews), eleven siblings, and many relatives and friends.
There will be a memorial at a future date.
