July 17, 1949 - October 14, 2020
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Yvette Irene Miller on Wednesday October 14, 2020, at the age of 71 after a long, courageous battle with Cancer.
Yvette was born in Riviere du Loup, Quebec, July 17, 1949. Her family moved to a logging camp at Rattlesnake Point, Vernon BC, in 1950, and then to Cherryville BC for the next 6 years.
In 1956, she returned to Vernon where she would live the rest of her life and raise her family. Yvette met her husband, Albert Miller, at the age of 13 and they were married in 1971. They went on to have three sons, Alan, Brian and Craig.
Yvette spent many years working at Vernon's Employment Insurance offices, however she chose to spend her children's early years working from the home, raising her boys.
Yvette had an adventurous spirit, and loved camping, fishing, quadding and she even jumped off of a cliff and paraglided through the stunning terrain over Golden BC.
She was a creative spirit, an accomplished gardener and a beautiful quilter. She was the co-founder of Tangled Stitchers and also belonged to the After 7 quilting group. Yvette surprised us all by becoming very tech savvy, researching her family's geneology, and reconnecting with many long-lost family members.
In her later years she caught the travel bug and visited several countries, including one most memorable trip with her siblings to her mother's homeland of Ireland.
Yvette was predeceased by her parents, John and Susan. She is survived by her husband Albert, her brother John, her sister Sue (Ron), her sons Alan (Kim), Brian (Tracy) and Craig (Quita) as well as her 5 grandchildren Owen, Hannah, Seth, Easton and Cadence, her 4 nieces and 1 nephew, and her many close friends.
She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. In accordance with Covid-19 protocols, a private family gathering will be held on Thursday October 22 to celebrate Yvette's life. It is with regret, that we are unable to hold a larger service for all who knew and loved her.
In memory of Yvette and in lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the North Okanagan Hospice Society, 3506-27th Ave, Vernon, BC, V1T 1S4.
