Brown sets meet record

Records are made to be broken and Ella Brown beat her own meet mark

Records are made to be broken and Ella Brown beat her own meet mark.

Brown, from Armstrong, a junior at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, won the triple jump for the third consecutive meet, setting a new meet record at SFU’s Emilie Mondor Invitational Saturday at Terry Fox Field.

Brown captured the triple jump with a winning leap of 11.60 metres.

She held the old meet record of 11.41 meters set  two years ago in her freshman season.

Brown’s record-setting jump was well back of her personal best performance at the Stanford Invitational last week in California, where she jumped 12.02 metres, but it was enough to win on her home field.

Brown holds down 10th place nationally in the event.

The Clan will send several athletes to Southern California for the Mt. Sac Relays (Thursday-Saturday), the Azusa Pacific Invitational (Friday and Saturday) and the Long Beach State Beach Invitational (Friday and Saturday).
