Fresh off his B.C. men’s curling title last weekend, Jim Cotter’s Woodland Equipment trimmed Ryan Kuhn’s North Enderby Timber 7-5 in the Baron Insurance Super League Wednesday night at the Vernon Curling Club.
Cotter, who bucked a three-game skid and is now 11-6, counted a deuce in two and single steals in three and four to lead by three at the midway point. Kuhn, tied for first with Ty Griffith’s Nufloors at 13-5, rallied with deuces in five and seven to pull even, but Cotter put the game away with two in eight.
T.J. Perepolkin’s Canaccord Wealth Management held off a late charge by Blake Kimura’s Village Green Hotel to earn a 7-5 win.
After pocketing a monster five-ender to open the game, Perepolkin (9-8) extended his lead with a deuce in three. The 5-11 Kimura rink came alive, recording singles over the next four ends to pull within two, only to have Perepolkin blank the final end.
Wayne Laface’s Inspiration Homes put together three big ends to brush back B.C. junior men’s champion Jon Gardner (Sladen Moore) 7-1.
After trading singles with the hammer in the first two ends, Laface (11-7) made no mistake with a free draw to count three in the third.
Gardner, now 9-8, had his last stone in five pick, allowing a steal of two.
After an impressive run at the B.C. men’s spiel, Darren Heath, skipping for Dave Merklinger’s Jet Ice, stopped Jenn Gerow 8-2.
Gerow (5-12) gave up singles in one and two, but stormed back with a deuce in three. The 13-4 Jet Ice crew cracked a four-ender in four and iced the game with a deuce in five.
Griffith won by default over Jeff Richard (3-14).
