Gators move to final versus Tenacity

It will be Tenacity and the White House Mortgages Gators in the Vernon Competitive Women’s Slo-Pitch League playoff final Wednesday night at Kin Park.

The last-place Gators (2-8) ambushed the third-place Competition Exteriors Dynamite 11-0 Wednesday night to advance to the final.

Denise Farmer earned the shutout and took game MVP Pitcher, getting some amazing defensive plays in support. Left fielder Sarah McDonnell rated Player of the Game with some spectacular catches.

Kelli Graham went 3-for-4 with three ribbies to spark the Gators, who got three hits and two RBI from Nancy Lafreniere and three hits and one RBI from Jen Doyle.

Alicia Melnick chipped in with two hits and two ribbies for the Gators, while Elli Lane produced a pair of hits and drove in one run.

The Dynamite upset the league champion Ice Cold Pitches 15-14 in semifinal play Wednesday night.

Jessica Sinclair was 4-for-5 with three RBI to pace the Nitros, while  Greg Barry drove in two runs on four hits in four plate appearances.

Leigha Stenhouse was 4-for-5 with one RBI, while Bett Reid was 3-for-4 and Sue Grott was 1-for-1 with the winning RBI.

The Ice Cold Pitches, who won last year’s playoff crown, finished at 8-3-1 this season. Tenacity placed second at 7-2-3.
