The Hitmen opened by outgunning the Scotiabank Scorpions 14-10 with the dynamic duo of Brett Jewell and Brenden Zupp accounting for 12 goals, Zupp earning 7+4 and Jewell supplying 5+2 Friday night at Priest Valley Arena.
Dustin Schmor and Adam Tyk also scored for the Hitmen, while Brock Wagner led Scotiabank with four goals, Aaron Keryluke and Rowyn Lewis-Hatherley bagged two each and singles went to Nik Negraiff and Solomon Ivanoff.
Girl power sparked the Hitmen in a 6-3 victory Saturday over the host Lumby Stars.
Brooke Toop fired two goals and Hannah Scherck scored once and set up another, while Zupp had 2+1 and Jewell one goal. Lumby’s goals were scored by Keenan MacDonald, Reid Hackett and Logan Meier, with two assists coming from Connor Fair.
The Hitmen closed their big weekend Sunday morning with a 13-5 victory over the last-place Chase Broncos at PV.

The Stars battled to a 2-2 tie with the DCT Chambers Red Bulls Sunday.

The first-place Denny’s Saints blew a 4-2 lead and settled for a 4-4 tie with the Warriors Friday night.
First star Kristian Currie scored twice for the 15-1-1 Saints, while Lucas Colgan and Chris Gallant added singles. Layne Greene and Marcus Finn each provided two helpers.
The Vernon Battery Seagulls went 2-1-1 in the Enderby Midget Rec Tournament to finish the season at 10 -3 -2 over a four-tourney span.
The Gulls opened by grounding Ridge Meadows 7-5 with Dustin Folliott, Brett Vandale and Clifford High each scoring twice and Justin Ramsey once. Luke Vandale and Rodger Sewell shared the win.
Brett Vandale (2), Tyson Clark (1+2), Bradley David and Folliott handled the Gulls’ attack in a 5-5 tie with Salmon Arm After-Shock.
In game three, the Gulls got four goals from High in a 9-5 victory over Merritt. Clark (2), Natalie Johnston, Ramsey and Folliott also scored.
The Gulls bowed 5-4 in a shootout to Hope in semifinal action Sunday.
High, Ramsey David and Ward Mercer had goals for the Gulls, who appeared to score the winner in overtime, but the referee ruled no goal although it seemed a Hope player dislodged the net. In the five-man shootout, Hope scored twice. Sean Connors replied for the Gulls. Sewell was spectacular in net.
In regular Midget Super League play, Lumby, sponsored by Gorman Bros. and R. J. Schunter Contracting, ambushed the Vernon Advertising Works Broad Street Bullies 12-2 Saturday.
Kyle Weston earned a hat-trick for the Stars, while Clayton Ricketts (2+3), Darcy Schenkeveld (2+2), and Rodney Thompson (2+1) also had productive nights. Wyatt Warnes, Chandler Porteous and Cory Hug each added singles. Brad Jones and Russ Hickman replied for the Bullies.
On Sunday, the Stars again cranked up their offence in a 9-3 victory over the Vernon Seed Orchard Ducks. Ricketts (3+2) and Schenkeveld (3+1) led the Stars, while Justin Burk added two and Rodney Thompson scored once in support of Mike Britch. Hayden Pasacreta (2) and Nick Gallant answered for the Ducks.
