The Lumby Lumberjacks could not have dreamt of a better beginning to their season.

The AA senior men’s hockey team, playing in their first ever game, emerged victorious 6-2 over the Powell River Regals on Saturday (Oct. 7) night.

Playing out of Pat Duke Arena, Lumby would get goals from Spenser Baldock, Bryce Perpelitz, Curtis Sexsmith, Perry Robinson, and two from Blaine Caton in the victory.

The game was all that was expected of AA senior hockey, with the ‘Jacks racking up 19 penalties for 72 minutes.

The Lumberjacks are the brainchild of Jason Boden, who wanted to provide another opportunity for older athletes to feed their competitive juices.

“I also think its a great networking opportunity, as you will have men from 21-40 years old, and a lot of them can offer wisdom and potential job opportunities outside of hockey,” Bolden stated in a previous interview.

The ‘Jacks are one of three Okanagan based squads, along with the Penticton Silver Bullets and Rossland Warriors, competing in the Central Interior Senior Hockey League.

Next up for Lumby is a double-header at home against the Rossland Warriors on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 28-29.

Tickets are $10 at the door, More information can be found at the Lumby Lumberjacks Facebook page.
