A forward from the Penticton Vees’ 2023 Fred Page Cup-winning squad has picked up an end-of-season award with his new team, the Kelowna Rockets.

Hiroki Gojsic, 17, captured rookie of the year honours with Kelowna of the Western Hockey League, the team announced March 21.

The Langley-born product spent the 2022-2023 campaign with the Vees, posting 21 points in 36 games in the regular season before helping the team win its second straight BCHL title.

In 68 games with the Rockets this season, Gojsic had 21 goals and 50 points.

The former Vees forward is ranked No. 94 on Central Scouting’s list of North American skaters ahead of the 2024 NHL Draft, set for the Sphere in Las Vegas on June 28 and 29.

Gojsic and the Rockets will take on the Wenatchee Wild in the first round of the WHL Playoffs.
