Silvertips battle hard at B.C. finals

The Salmon Arm Silvertips went 0-3 in the B.C. Midget A Female Hockey Championships in Kamloops.

The Salmon Arm Silvertips went 0-3 in the B.C. Midget A Female Hockey Championships in Kamloops.

The Silvertips, with 13 players from the Vernon area, fell 5-0 to Terrace in their final game Tuesday. They prevously lost 7-0 to Richmond and 6-1 to North Island.

Cassidy Marshall, Schannie Watson, Chelsea Marshall, Ava Wutke, and Sarah Whitehead put in stellar showings against Terrace,

“The girls had a great year,” said Silvertip head coach Sean Wutke, assisted by Rob Bauml and Korri Vandale “Every player on our team scored a goal this year in a league where goals are hard to come by. We finished fourth in the regular season, however won in playoffs to make provincials. By the end of the season, we beat every team from our league, including Kamloops, who had only lost one game all season in league play.”

Strong efforts put in by Marlea-Lynn Best, Taylor Thomlinson, Carly Southam, and Samantha Maric versus Richmond.

Tareyn Hanson converted on a pass set up by Cailee Bauml with a strong forecheck from Olivia Comeau against North Island.

“Our team battled hard,” said Wutke. “We played this team earlier in the season and lost 10-2. Strong efforts came from Cailee Bauml, Bailey Berndt, Taylor Vandale, and Makenna Southam.”
