The Seaton Sonics used a balanced offence and a superb running game to ice the Kalamalka Lakers 73-36 in the WL Seaton Secondary 27th Street Invitational Girls Basketball Classic.

The senior Sonics took advantage of a short Kal bench and almost every player hit the scoreboard with Sam Scott draining 20 points. Eliza Northcott rang up 18 and Isabelle Waltar-Sacrey canned 15. Kalli Hamilton-Gee had a great game defensively for Shelley Henry’s Sonics.

Carly Popilchak flushed 24 points for the Lakers. Seaton took on the George Elliot Coyotes of Lake Country and Pleasant Valley Saints of Armstrong in round-robin play Saturday. The Coyotes cruised past the Saints Friday.

On the six-team junior side, Seaton dusted off PVSS 48-25, Charles Bloom Timberwolves hung with Summerland Rockets until half-time but ended up losing by double digits, Seaton took Valleyview Vikings of Kamloops to overtime before finally losing 45-39 (after falling to Valleyview in the Valleyview tournament last weekend by 25); and Sa-Hali Sabres of Kamloops bounced Bloom by 21 after being down by one at half time.

The Sonics are coached by Matt Folk. The final went Saturday night.
