Dr. Lee’s Dental/Squires Four Pub slammed the Okanagan Season Sistas 8-0 in North Okanagan Women’s Soccer Association Masters Division play Tuesday night at MacDonald Park.
Jill Rintoul and Jacquie Hansen pulled hat tricks for the flossers (9-0-1), who got singles from Lori Shippy and Deanna Baker. Lisa Arrotta picked up her ninth shutout.
The Sistas dipped to 4-6.
Impact pick up road win
The Graymonk/Longhorn Pub Impact starched Shuswap Merlot 5-1 in Salmon Arm.
Alicia McCreary started the party for the pub people in the first.
Minda Chittenden rifled one top corner, Edeen Ramsey dangled several defenders to slip one past the keeper, Myra McEwan showed shades of Lionel Messi, as she slithered one in from a difficult angle and Kim Wiebe scored in her first game back from injury for the Impact (6-2-2).
The Merlot fell to 2-6-1.
Jacobs jacks the Drillers
The Chick Kickers iced the Goplen Drillers 7-0 at Marshall Field #2.
It was the Kickers’ second straight 7-0 win.
Jen Kemper buried a gorgeous cross from hard-working Michelle Johnson in the first half.
Jenny Garnett looked like Robin van Persie with a lovely header off a feed from Jen Sorochuck.
Mel Jacobs took over in the second half for the Chick Kickers (8-1-1) with a natural hat trick.
Tania Sladen and Robyn Sherwood played tic-tac-toe to set up Jacobs’ first. Jacobs’ second came from a perfect corner, with the third coming on a nice up from Sorochuck.
Kelly Challen played her best game of the season and blasted one home before Jacobs added another.
Wendy Magnus ran the defence like a major general along with Shauna Duncan, Carmen Kinninberg and Robyn Sherwood, snuffed out the Drillers as Colleen Johnson picked up the shutout. The Drillers are 3-3-4.
United knock down Controllers
TED United downed the Controllers 5-1 in Salmon Arm.
The Controllers (5-4-1) have been put through the meat grinder in June as they took on the top three teams and went 0-3.
United’s keeper bobbled Michele Wernicke’s shot and Michelle Mercer pounced on the rebound to find Ang Durfeld who buried it.
Leah Mulvihill was Player of the Match and Mickey Templeton did her best to keep the red-hot United (8-1-1) at bay.
Blazers steal one late
The AF Blazers edged the NET Celtics 2-1 in Division 1 soccer play at Marshall Field #1.
The Blazers (4-4-2) opened the scoring on a perfect free kick over the Celtic wall into the top corner.
Arayana Jacura hammered one top corner to tie the game early in the second half thanks to a through ball from Ashley Krause. The Blazers capitalized late on a scramble from a corner to put the game away.
