Vernon Baseball Association calling for umpires

Men (and women) in blue needed for 2022 season; clinics upcoming in April

Baseball enthusiasts looking to earn some extra cash are needed at home plate.

Umpires are needed for the upcoming season, and the Vernon Baseball Association (VBA) will train all umps.

“Umpiring is a great first job for kids, but also a way for adults to stay involved and make a little extra money,” said the association in a release.

The VBA is looking for more ‘blues’ aged 12-99, especially adults.

“We provide the training and support,” said the association.

Umpires are paid per game by VBA. The 2022 fees are:

• 1U Mosquito $25

• 13U Pee Wee $40

• 15U Bantam $50

• 18U Midget $60

• Senior Men’s League $60

In preparation for the 2022 baseball season, VBA will be hosting a Level 1 and 2 umpire clinic.

Clinic: Level 1 – For new and returning umpires 13 & under. Please note the clinic consists of two sessions (one classroom and one field work).

Level 1: online classroom session

Date: multiple dates and times available

Location: bcbuaeducationportal.net (must register and pay fees at bcbua.ca first)

Level 1: field work session

Date: April 23, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Location: Lakeview Park field #2, 3001-18th St.

Clinic: Level 2 – For returning umpires age 14 and older, who have passed Level 1 clinic (within three years). Clinic consists of two sessions (one classroom and one field work).

Level 2: online classroom session

Date: multiple dates and times available

Location: bcbuaeducationportal.net (must register and pay fees at bcbua.ca first)

Level 2: field work session

Date: April 23, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Location: Lakeview Park field #2
