Vernon hosts Mosquito baseball zone finals

11U AAA and 11U A zone finals to be held at Lakeview Park

Berths to provincial championships are on the line in Vernon this weekend.

Vernon Baseball Association is hosting the zone 11U AAA and 11UA Mosquito baseball championships at Lakeview Park.

The Vernon Canadians will join teams from West Kelowna, Central Okanagan and South Okanagan Minor Baseball Associations in the four-team 11U AAA finals.

The tournament is a round robin with the top two teams qualifying for provincials.

The Canadians play West Kelowna Friday at 6 p.m. at Field 2, Central Okanagan at noon Saturday at Field 1 and finish the round robin Saturday at 6 p.m. at Field 1 against South Okanagan.

The Cs will play Central Okanagan in a best-of-three 11U zone championship.

The first two games are in Vernon Saturday at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., both at Field 1.

A third game, if necessary, would be played Sunday in Kelowna.

The winner advances to the provincial championships.
