Vernon United ambushed the Penticton Pinnacles 8-1 in Thompson Okanagan Under 14 Boys Rep Soccer League action Sunday afternoon at Kings Park.

William Oordt-Bosman opened the scoring on a nice feed from Tage Kineshanko and Saajan Klair made it 2-0 before the 10-minute mark. Vernon kept up the pressure and it was 5-0 by half time.

Brad Cramer connected on a breakaway and Lucien Desmazes-Landry followed with two quick snipes a few minutes later.

James Meeks kept the scoring parade going scoring early in the second half before Penticton broke the shutout on a rebound from a penalty kick.

Mathew Reich and Kinashenko completed the attack. Ben Imrich, Jack Cotter and Kaden Funk all had strong games in the mid field.

Vernon United U13 Boys tied the Kootenay South Storm 3-3 in exhibition play Saturday at McDonald Park, and then fell 7-2 to Kelowna United in league play Sunday morning.

Vernon came out strong against the Storm with Austin Amini scoring with assists from Quinn Soon and Owen Davies.

Unfortunately, keeper Gage Stoll had a handball outside the box, allowing Kootenay South to score on a penalty kick.

Call-up Diego Glanz then took over duties in net.

In the second half, Dominic Petersen delivered a great pass to Michael Hoyland to make it 2-1 Vernon. Kootenay South leveled the score on another PK.

Josiah Falk unleashed a beauty free kick and Petersen buried the rebound before the Kootenay kids equalized.

Kelowna took a 2-0 lead into the break Sunday with excellent defensive play by Falk, Zack Hanley and Ty Bartel for Vernon.

The second half was dominated by a strong Kelowna offence before Vernon answered back with goals from Ethan Greenan and Hoyland.

United bowed 3-1 to Kootenay South on a blustery Sunday afternoon at the Greater Vernon Athletic Park. Hoyland scored for Vernon.

The U11 United Wildcats split a pair in Kamloops Sunday, shading Kelowna S 3-2 and losing 2-0 to Kelowna D.

James Richardson (2) and Ethan Anderson supplied goals in the win with Chase Cederholm dynamic on defence.

Kailen Russell’s speed and determination were amazing to watch in the Cats’ loss.

Vernon Tolko United U12 Boys played Kelowna teams in their Sunday double-headers.

Tolko Team S fell 1-0 to Kelowna N before winning 4-1 over Kelowna R.

Braden Schmiegelt played net for Vernon against Kelowna N with Alex Kazimer, Roan Reid and Colby McManaman solid in support.

Kelowna’s defenders marked Owen Challen and Cameron Acob tight.

In Game 2, Fraser Christensen and Justin Ruscheinsky shared keeper duties in the win.

Kelowna got on the sheet first but Devin Bilodeau sent a long ball sailing just over the keeper’s fingertips for the equalizer.

Supported by Nick Noren, Carter Leahy served a great pass for Landon Janke who notched the go-ahead goal.  Danny McLennan assisted the final two goals by Leahy and Christensen.

Tolko Team C went undefeated in their twinbill, grounding Kelowna G 4-1 and clipping Kamloops H 4-3.

Cash Anderson buried a pass from Declan Hardy in the opening minute before  Kelowna tied things. Tate Garrod launched a long ball on a pass from Parker Munroe for the go-ahead tally.

Anderson scored again and Ben Straight connected with a header in support of stellar Aidan Winn.

In Game 2, United spotted Kamloops the lead before Marcus Erho responded for Vernon, assisted by Hardy. Kamloops went in front before Straight took a long run up the middle for  the equalizer.

Munroe passed to Straight for another snipe before Kamloops levelled the score again.  Jonah Violini and Zach Loland supported Daxton Podollan for the winner.

 

Liam Collins, Jared Eddy and Marcus Petersen were bold on the back line.
