Vernon youth bowlers rolling to B.C.’s

Three teams win zone championship at home to advance to provincials on Vancouver Island

Home-lane advantage paid off for a trio of Lincoln Lanes youth bowling duos.

The Vernon centre hosted the Youth Bowling Championship Zone Finals Feb. 10 and 11 at Lincoln Lanes, bringing in competitors from Vernon, Kamloops, Kelowna and Salmon Arm.

The top team from each zone division advances to the provincial finals March 2 and 3 in Nanaimo and Duncan.

Lincoln Lanes’ Senior Boys team of Lukas Rachwalski and Alex Kazimer, coached by Ivan Soroka, placed first with a five-game total of 2,380.

The Junior Boys team of Talan Rachwalski and Colton Dranchuk, coached by Lincoln Brouwer, advances to the provincials after taking the division with a five-game score of 1,985.

Also heading to Vancouver Island is the Lincoln Lanes Bantam Boys team of Alex Schnyder and Zayden Ficke, coached by Keith Hoggard, who captured the zone title with their five-game total of 1,285.

Three Lincoln Lanes pairs wound up in second place in their respective divisions.

The Junior Boys #2 duo of Ben Hilderman and Lucas Thibault, coached by Peggy Hoggard, was second with 1,417.

Aryssa Matsen and Charleigh Lemay finished second in the Senior Girls division with a 2,109 total. They’re coached by Chandra Hamilton. Lincoln’s Senior Girls #2 pair of Lizzie Wright and Charlee Buckley, coached by Trevor Rachwalski, was third at 1,512.

The Senior Boys duo of Nathan Danics and Jayden Adams, coached by Kara Kazimer, came second with a 1,632 total over five games.

Trenton Birmingham and Ryker Chorley were third in the Bantam Boys Division with a 990 score. They are coached by Paul Schnyder.

Bowlers who are successful at the provincials will earn a trip to the national finals in Ottawa in May.
