Yellow Jackets jolt Kelowna

The Vernon Yellow Jackets brushed back Kelowna 10-9 in Okanagan Pee Wee Baseball League action Tuesday night at Creekside Park.

Justin Geistlinger sparkled on the mound for the Jackets. Nolan Thomas singled in Carter Rachwalski home for Vernon’s first run.

Olivia Lattery and Carson Minshull both hit singles with Lattery stealing home in the second inning and Duncan Elder swiped home the next inning.

Geistlinger struck one batter out in the fourth and and Damon Cover fielded a grounded with a clean throw to third base for a second out.

Rachwalski took the hill in the fifth with Nolan Thomas laying down a gorgeous RBI-bunt. Adam Battersby kocked Elder home for the winning run.

In Mosquito play, the Rotary Blue Jays shaded the Kal Tire Smoke 9-7 Wednesday night at Lakeview Park.

Both teams got excellent pitching with Maddex MacAulay, Jamie Campbell (3Ks), Luke Gardiner, Logan Killingbeck and Riley Cormier (6Ks) sharing the duties for the Jays.

Kiera Braddick, Ashton Rysen, Erik Pastro (4Ks) and Brennan Braddick hurled for the Smoke.

Pastro was 3-for-3 for the Smoke.  Killingbeck doubled in the first inning, while Adam Hansen stroked a run-scoring  single in the fifth to mount a four-run Jays’ comeback.
