UPDATE: RCMP investigate ‘suspicious’ Vernon dumpster fire

UPDATE April 9:

Witnesses and video footage are being sought by police following a suspicious fire behind a Vernon business.

The blaze was sparked in a dumpster behind Andre’s Electronics Monday, April 8 around 3 p.m.

Vernon Fire Rescue Services was quick to douse the fire and RCMP attended.

“The fire is considered suspicious and police are in the process of collecting video footage from businesses in the area as part of the investigation,” said Const. Chris Terleski, Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media relations officer.

Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious, or has information they believe may assist the investigation, is asked to contact the police at 250-545-7171 and quote file number 2024-5329.

Firefighters were quick on the draw to extinguish a fire in a garbage dumpster Monday afternoon.

Vernon Fire Rescue Services was called to the blaze behind Andre’s Electronics and the Superstore shortly after 3 p.m. April 8.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
