Vernon North Okanagan RCMP had a busy weekend with 160 calls for service.
Between 6 p.m., on Friday, April 1 and midnight on Sunday, April 3, police arrested a man sought on outstanding warrants, stopped an alleged thief, located fentanyl on a man and impounded a driver’s vehicle after he crashed into a ditch and found to be impaired.
“Our officers responded to driving complaints, instances involving interpersonal violence, property offences, missing persons, bylaw complaints and a wide array of other calls for service and self-generated investigations,” media relations officer Const. Chris Terleski said.
RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision in the 4400 block of Salmon River Road Friday at 6:30 p.m. where a vehicle had crashed into a ditch.
The driver of the vehicle, who was uninjured, was suspected to be impaired and provided two breath tests, both of which resulted in failed readings. The 43-year old man was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and had his vehicle impounded for 30 days.
A resident alerted RCMP to a man who appeared to be checking vehicle doors in the 4200 block of 15th Avenue Saturday around 7:45 a.m. Officers quickly responded and arrested the suspect who was “heavily intoxicated.” He was released without charges once he sobered up.
A tip from the public led to the arrest of James Peacock Saturday at 1:50 p.m. He was wanted on several outstanding warrants and remains in custody pending his next court appearance.

“Thank-you for your assistance,” Terleski said.
Police responded to a report of several people causing a disturbance outside a business in the 2600 block of Highway 6 Saturday around 8:30 p.m.
One man was arrested after being given several opportunities to leave the property on his own. During a search incidental to the arrest, police located a quantity of suspected fentanyl in the man’s possession. The investigation is continuing.
