The Vernon Vipers’ season may be finished on the ice, but the B.C. Hockey League team is still helping out the community.

The Snakes, BCHL and Shaw have teamed to help support the Kalamalka Starfish Society, and help to build better communities for the children and youth to live, learn and play.

You can help as well.

Text VERKIDS to 41010 before May 31 to donate $10 to the Kalamalka Starfish Society. Shaw will match your donation, doubling the amount raised to help kids in the community.

For more information on the initiative, visit bchl.ca/shaw.

The Starfish society relies on the generosity of the community to help provide weekend backpacks for school kids in Greater Vernon who experience food insecurity. The funds donated will help feed children each weekend throughout the school year.

Each backpack contains two breakfasts, two lunches and two dinners, along with fresh fruit and vegetables. The cost of providing the backpack for a year is about $600.

The donations and matched contributions raised through the initiative will help ensure that charities like the Kalamalka Starfish Society will be able to continue delivering the program, and supporting the Greater Vernon area.
