In a wacky and wild second round KIJHL playoff series, the North Okanagan Knights eked out a crucial game six victory over the Princeton Posse to send it to a winner-take-all seventh game.
The series has been defined by runs. North Okanagan won the opening two games in Princeton, before the Posse rattled off three straight, two away from home.
Game six, hosted at Armstrong’s Nor-Val Centre on Saturday, March 16 saw just one goal in the opening frame, off the stick of Knights’ Grayson Williamson.
The Posse responded in the second, with Tyson Horiachka on the power play and Brennan Watterson. In the third, North Okanagan scored twice in a minute to put them up 3-2, as Devin Jameson and Nolan Kelly found the back of the net.
Despite just six shots in the frame, the Knights were able to rely on their defense in the final 14 minutes to nab the victory.
Josh Hager stopped 41 of 43 shots for his seventh win of the postseason.
Game seven will be at the Princeton and District Arena on Monday, March 18. The winner will advance to the Okanagan-Shuswap Conference Finals, where the Revelstoke Grizzlies will be waiting. The Grizz have blitzed through the postseason with a perfect 8-0 record.
