It’s easy to see why some Lumby residents feel a correctional facility is being forced on them.

The North Okanagan is home to a vast array of distinct communities, but even within those boundaries there are individual areas with strong identities. Geographical and historical names abound, as do some names that only a handful of people may know.

At that time of year when giving some times gets blurred with getting, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to do both.

As the white stuff continues to fall and some of us might be getting depressed about the fact that spring seems a long ways off, it might be worth taking the time to muse over all things snow (hey what else are we going to do until March?)....

While we Okanaganites are engaged in debate over everything from tax and water rate hikes to a Kelowna RCMP officer kicking an arrested suspect in the head, there is always hope that the issues we face will be resolved and we will move forward.

When I was very young, there were a few things I looked forward to doing as I grew up. As a Grade 1 student, I looked forward to having homework. Hard to imagine, I know, but at the time it struck me as the height of maturity.

There are many reasons why someone reaches out and makes an appointment to see a counsellor. Perhaps a life issue feels insurmountable and speaking to family or friends would be inappropriate. Maybe something has been bubbling just below the surface for many years and is now starting to interfere with daily living.

The current proposal to locate sport facilities on the Okanagan College Kalamalka Campus site appears to have broad community support, however I think it is worthwhile to consider why the college site is currently configured the way it is before we proceed. The following presents a review of the site history.
